Community Environmental Network

The Community Environment Network programme supports the Communities First process within the 16 Communities First related areas of Caerphilly County Borough. The programme engages with the Communities First partnership programme, developing, supporting and delivering community led environment projects.

The ‘Blooming Lovely’ Project in Phillipstown was launched, in conjunction with the Philipstown Community House, Solid Ground and the Allotment Society. Local residents, community members and volunteers have worked together to design, develop and build a community growing allotment plot. The plot acts as a facility that inspires interest in horticulture as well as a focal point for training and working. The plot also plays a key role in encouraging local residents and aspiring young gardeners to take responsibility for their local environment and acts as an example of what can be achieved by an enthused and motivated community.

Other examples include community walkabouts and bike rides, community gardens and allotments, litter and waste events, environmental arts and crafts, school garden projects, outdoor learning and sensory gardens. Upon development of a project with a community, the programme links to Other Groundwork Caerphilly programmes wherever possible to assist with delivery.
