Groundwork Gateway to Work

Groundwork North Wales are looking for people from Gwynedd who are not working to take part in a free 12 week programme to help them to get back into work, training or volunteering. The new programme is called Groundwork Gateway to Work. The programme lasts for 1½ days per week for a 12 week period, with 1 day of practical work experience and half a day of training.

Successful participants will gain 1 day per week of work experience at the Faenol Estate near Bangor on a variety of environmental projects including conservation, landscaping, gardening, planting and maintenance.

There will also be a half day session per week of training, involving job search, CV writing, job application support and interview techniques.

People wanting to take part must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Be in receipt of incapacity benefit or Income support
  • Be retired and wanting to return to work
  • Be aged 16-17 not in employment, education or training
  • Be a lone parent
  • Live with a work-limiting health condition
  • Not claiming benefits
  • Work less than 16 hours per week

Karen Balmer, Executive Director at Groundwork North Wales said, “This is a real opportunity for people who are out of work to get great work experience and gain new skills.

Our programme is enjoyable, easy to follow and we will helping with building confidence, CV and letter writing, interview skills, as well as offering practical and interesting work experience at the Faenol Estate.
