Groundwork North Wales was established in 1991 as Groundwork Wrexham, the first Groundwork Trust in North Wales. Working in close partnership with the local authority, businesses and a wide range of environmental groups and organisations, we quickly established ourselves as a leading organisation in the field of environmental regeneration.
In 2001, we extended our operation into the bordering county of Flintshire. We also had a remit to work on a project-by-project basis in the county of Denbighshire.
In 2010 the Trust became Groundwork North Wales, working right across the North of Wales and opening a second office in Caernarfon.
In the years ears since formation, the Trust has grown significantly and now employs 30 staff. Our professional workforce includes experienced fundraising and finance managers, community development officers, environmental education officers, landscape architects and health and environmental trainers. With this diverse range of skills we deliver many projects, working with and engaging local people to improve communities, the environment and people’s health and to ensure individuals, communities and businesses prosper.
As a charity and company limited by guarantee, we are actively supported by our Board of Trustees, which is composed of members from the public, private and voluntary sectors. We receive core funding from Wrexham County Borough Council, Flintshire County Council and the Welsh Government. Project work is supported through grant-giving organisations, private sector sponsorship and from other public sector funding streams.
Groundwork North Wales is part of Groundwork in Wales, a leading local, regional and national environmental regeneration network building sustainable communities across Wales.
